The Treefolk - Mr. Watzisname

Mr. Watzisname spends most of his time snoring in his house. His snores are louder than an aeroplane and can be heard by everyone on the tree! No one knows his name, and he doesn't remember either! The kids' adventure in the "land of secrets" reveals that his name is "Kollamoolitumarellipawkyrollo" but he forgets it soon!

The Faraway Tree has a hollow trunk and folks of the faraway tree use the hollow trunk as a slide when they want to go down. They sit on cushions and slide down inside the hollow trunk....and a trap door opens when they reach the bottom and throws them out into the soft green grass!

The slide is called 'Slippery-Slip'.

The stories are about the "Faraway Tree" which grows in "The Enchanted Wood" in England. Magical folk live in the tree. They soon get to know three children who live nearby...Jo, Bessie, Fanny. The Faraway tree is a special tree because it is so tall that it reaches into the clouds and if you climb to the top you can visit different "lands" that arrive periodically, like a train arrives at a station. The "lands" stay at the top of the Faraway tree for about a week, then move on.

Who Wrote the Faraway Tree Stories and when were they published . . . ?

Enid Blyton wrote the Faraway Tree Stories in the early part of the 20th Century, they were published between 1939 and 1946 in England.
